Substitution

Apparently there is a lot of contraversy in evangelical circles at the moment about the Theory of Renal Substitution. I find this strange, because as far as I was aware we'd got liver transplants sewn up a long time ago. I'm not an expert, of course.
I have to take it seriously though; My GP told me that my life of little transgressions is going to lead to piercing some day. It may be a caricature, but this had been like a secret message for me. I had some cross words when I realised.
On the other hand, if I need a new liver, I'm not sure the theory will be the main thing on my mind. After all if I'm dying, I'll be more interested in a surgeon who can help me rebuild. Obviously, it is nice to have a good theory, but I'm more worried about getting a new life.
What would really upset me is to have all the orderlies arguing about it when I'm trying to find my way to the operating theatre…
(Sorry. In-joke/tension breaker. Had to be done. Move along now.)
